On Sunday, October 15 at the 11 am Mass at St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond will celebrate a special Mass for the Victims and Survivors of Violence. The Mass will be followed by a small reception in Jackson Square where the archbishop will greet local families affected by violence in the community. The Mass, an annual event for the local Catholic Church, is meant not only to pray for peace and an end to crime and violence in the community, but also to reach out to those most closely affected by violence, victims and their families, and to pray for their healing and peace.
October is respect-life month, a time to remember that this issues of crime and violence are pro-life issues. This Mass is a time for the community to come together to pray for and with victims and survivors of crime and violence and also to pray for a greater respect for all human life in our community.
