Healthy Blue in partnership with the Hispanic Apostolate will host a drive-thru Back-to-School Supply Giveaway once again on Saturday, July 24 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. at the Hispanic Apostolate at 2525 Maine Ave. in Metairie.
Free school supplies will be available at the Hispanic Apostolate for children in Kindergarten through Sixth grade. The school supply giveaway is part of an annual back-to-school event which will also include information on a variety of community resources.
“It is important for our students to be excited and to be prepared to return to school,” said Fr. Sergio Serrano, O.P Director. “The Back-to-School Giveaway also connects the community to important resources that encourage health and nutrition to help children learn and thrive in the classroom.”
The event is open to the public. School supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last. The child must be present with the parent or guardian in the vehicle to receive the free supplies.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to provide our local youth with resources to enhance their learning and development,” said Dr. Christy Valentine, Healthy Blue Plan President. “Healthy Blue continues to support programs that promote health and education to further our commitment to improve lives and communities.”
The drive-thru Back-to-School Supply Giveaway is made possible with support from Healthy Blue in partnership with the Hispanic Apostolate. Healthy Blue will donate more than 6,000 school supply kits this summer to youth across the state to support back to school efforts and learning. Since 2016,
