Resurrection of Our Lord School to provide child care starting Thursday

Due to an early morning fire, Resurrection of Our Lord School in New Orleans East will be closed from today through their previously scheduled Mardi Gras holidays

Following the early morning fire this morning at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic School in New Orleans East, the school administration in consultation with the Office of Catholic Schools announced the temporary closure of the school through their planned Mardi Gras break.  Understanding the challenges some parents may face in providing care for their children, the school leadership has developed a plan to provide childcare for students whose parents cannot make other arrangements.

Starting Thursday morning, February 16, parents may bring their children to St. Paul the Apostle located at 6828 Chef Menteur Hwy. for day care from 7:40 am to 3 pm.  Parents will be required to check-in their children and complete an emergency notification card onsite before their child will be able to stay.  The child care will be provided by members of Resurrection’s faculty.

Parents who plan to bring their children to the St. Paul the Apostle site, should pack lunches daily, and students are asked to bring their school supply pouches with pencils, markers, crayons, etc.  Additionally, any children who will require medications are asked to bring a new supply with them Thursday morning.  The lower grade children should also bring with them a blanket for nap time.

A notification with this information was sent out through the school’s School Reach emergency phone system to parents this afternoon.  Parents with questions or concerns should contact the Office of Catholic Schools at (504) 866-7916.
