Saint Maximilian Kolbe is the patron saint of drug addicts, prisoners, families, journalists and the pro-life movement.
- He had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary offering him two crowns- virginity and martyrdom
- Organized the Malitia Immaculata to work on converting sinners and enemies of the Church
- His monastery was shut down by Nazis during WWII and he was arrested and transferred to Auschwitz
- Volunteered to take the place of a stranger that was chosen to be starved to death
