Topic: “COMING TO AMERICA”
The U.S. Catholic Bishops have called on Catholics to be informed about
Catholic principles and teachings that should guide any reform of immigration
policy in the United States, especially as neither political party nor ideology
adequately reflects the total Catholic position.
Speaker: Martin Gutierrez is Director of
Neighborhood and Community Services for Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New
Orleans, and previously was director of the Archdiocesan Hispanic Apostolate.

Many young adults can remember needing to
complete service hours for high school or Confirmation, but with little
understanding of the rationale for them. This gathering will take a look at
Catholic social teaching and provide a real life example in the Catholic Worker
house opening in New Orleans.
Speaker: Nick Albares is parish social
ministry coordinator of the Office of Justice & Peace of Catholic
Charities. Joe and Katy Mueller are opening the first Catholic Worker House in
greater New Orleans.
